The Hike for Hospice is a nationwide event held by hospice and palliative care organizations across Canada on the first Sunday of May, launching
National Palliative Care Week.
This important event:
Raises awareness about hospice and palliative care
Raises funds for essential hospice programs
Provides a meaningful way to honour and remember loved ones
100% of the funds raised by Hospice Huntsville stay right here in our community.
These vital funds help ensure individuals and families facing end-of-life journeys receive compassionate support and programs at no cost.

Hike for Hospice Huntsville – Event Highlights 🌲🥾
Join us for a fun and inspiring day in support of Hospice Huntsville! Along the trail and at the event site, there will be plenty to see and experience for hikers of all ages.
🎶 Live Music Along the Trails
Enjoy performances from local musicians who will be playing at various points along the hiking routes.
🐐 Meet the Goats!
Stop by and visit the adorable goats from Muskoka Goat Away — a fun experience for kids and adults alike.
🤖 Robotics Demonstration
Members of the Huntsville High School Robotics Club will be showcasing their award-winning robot and giving live demonstrations.
📸 Hiker Photo Booth
Capture the memories! A professional photographer will be on site to take photos of hiking teams and individual participants.
Participants can choose from three scenic routes, each offering beautiful views and a memorable outdoor experience.

Celebrating National Palliative Care Week: A variety of activities are planned at Hospice Huntsville to recognize and celebrate National Hospice Palliative Care Week.
Hospice Huntsville Flag Raising dates:

This year marks the 5th annual Hospice Huntsville Flag Raising, held in recognition of National Hospice Palliative Care Week (May 3–9) and the 17th Annual Hike for Hospice Huntsville. This week provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the vital role palliative care plays in delivering compassionate care across Canada.
Hospice Huntsville Flag Raising-Lake of Bays Township

This year marks the third consecutive year that the hospice flag will be raised at the Lake of Bays Township offices in recognition of National Hospice Palliative Care Week.
Huntsville Town Hall Clock Tower Lighting
Date: The clock tower could be lit for the evenings of May 3rd through to the 8th.
We are delighted to announce the Town of Huntsville Clock Tower will be lit in purple in recognition of Hospice Huntsville and National Palliative Care Week.
The Reflection Room: Creating space to pause, reflect and share experiences with dying and death
Dates: May 4 – May 8
Location: Hospice Huntsville Community Programs Hub
We will have a special area set up in our new expansion space for family members, staff, volunteers and community members to reflect and if they like, to write about their experiences with dying, death and grief.
What is The Reflection Room?
“Reflection Rooms are evidence-based, participatory art installations created in 2016 by the SE Research Centre, led by Paul Holyoke from the Centre and Barry Stephenson from Memorial University of Newfoundland. The goal of the project is to support people in community and health-care settings to talk about dying and death by providing an immersive space for visitors to read stories written by others and write and share their own stories.”
The Light of My Life
Date: Wednesday May 6
Time: 8:00pm-9:00pm
Community members are invited to honour those who have supported them through life’s most meaningful moments, whether they are still with us or have died. On May 6, we are encouraging our community members to shine a light in their home or business for one hour in tribute. The public will also be invited to share photos of their light on social media, helping to spread awareness and create a collective message of remembrance and support.

Between now and May 26th Auric Yoga Studio will be collecting used clothes for a clothing swap on the 28th! How it works is everyone drops off clean, gently used clothing (shoes and accessories too)
They will size and sort it all and on the 28th at 2pm those who donated get to go shopping!
To participate they are collecting donations for the Hospice Huntsville on the day of the event.
There will be refreshments and the event will be limited at 30 people. At this time we are doing women’s clothes only.
